Grand Traverse Lighthouse

Grand Traverse Lighthouse 1915
From the Archives of Michigan
Grand Traverse Lighthouse
Built in 1858 on the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula 9 miles north of Northport. It served until 1972 as a guide to ships on Lake Michigan.
In 1972 the Coast Guard built a automated beacon to replace the lighthouse.
The Grand Traverse Lighthouse is now a museum. The panoramic view from the lightower is magnificent and should not be missed,
